In many of the posts on this blog, I have ranted and raved like a lunatic about how shitty everything on this little blue rock is. It has been a while since I’ve posted, so I think I’ll do something a little different.

Today I am going to take the time to write a few words about the opposite. Because even though we’re a bunch of retarded monkeys fucking things up left and right, there are reasons to keep your head up as you plug along.

The fact that everything exists is beautiful in itself. I’m not just talking about aesthetics, either. The odds of everything being here are insurmountable. The odds of you existing are even larger. Of the billions of sperm shot out of your father and the hundreds of eggs inside your mother, you and you alone were the result out of the hundreds of thousands of different possible combinations. That shit is amazing.

And I am a firm believer in the idea that within each and every one of us is unfathomable strength. We were born from the stars in a very literal way: the elements that make up your body come from the remains of stars that have long burned out. So whenever you’re feeling down about yourself, whenever you’re feeling weak and impotent, just remember that you used to be a star burning hot in the void of space, that you still have the ghost of that star burning inside of you.

There's a tiny chunk of one of these inside of you. Act like it.

I don’t really know what’s gotten into me. Usually I’m more than happy to spread doom and gloom, to remind everyone how truly fucked up everything is.

But I guess we all have days where we can’t be anything else but happy. On nice spring days where the sun comes out and everything is green and alive and everyone takes to the streets. Days where all you want to do is lay around in the sun with your loved ones and pass the time doing nothing at all.

These are the things that keep us going. You need to take pleasure in the little things to keep your head above water. You can’t let the big things weigh you down, as many people allow them to. It’s a sink or swim world that we live in and the heavier your burden, the less likely you are to float.

Now, get off the computer and go out and enjoy the nice weather. Go out and take pleasure in the little things.
